Photography Tips
When JPEG Trumps RAW Image Files – There are legitimate times to set your camera to capture JPEG images over RAW image files.
Finding Balance in Your Photographic Life – As a photographers we have to find the time to manage how our lives can often interfere with our photographic workflow. We have to find balance.
Preventing Shutter Lag in Digital Cameras – Shutter lag is arguably one of the biggest causes of frustration for digital camera owners.
Treating Simplicity in Photography as a Goal – How much equipment do you have? Is it enough? Too much? When does an overabundance of equipment become gimmicky or showy? While some photographers have a need for much of that equipment I’d argue that most, especially beginning, photographers would simply be better off without having too much photo gear.
Unlocking the Psychology of Visual Perception in Photography – Photography is such a wonderful visual medium of artistic creativity. It allows an artist the ability to record the world as “seen”. But how are we, as artists, able to create visual stimuli that pushes boundaries of perception?
Definitions
Understanding Overexposure and Underexposure – All digital cameras have an exposure meter of some sort. Most models have multiple exposure patterns for measuring the light hitting your camera’s sensor. Let’s take a quick look at three of the most common type of exposure meter patterns.
Defining Macro Photography – Often times people can confuse the meaning of macro photography. We’ll try to clear that up for you. The definition of macro photography is photography at “life size”. Technically speaking, macro photography is photography that is at 1X magnification and/or greater.
Bokeh – Most people don’t realize exactly how new the term Bokeh, as pertaining to photography, really is (it was probably coined around the late 1990?s). Derived from the Japanese word bokeaji meaning “fuzzy”, bokeh refers to the area of a photograph that is out of focus. That’s it. Simple really.
