A View of the UK – Macro photography by Paul Iddon
Today’s Sunday showcase comes from Preston based, macro photography enthusiast, Paul Iddon. You can find more of Paul’s work at www.pauliddon.co.uk and be sure to check out the canon-fodder-forums
I have been interested in photography for a long time, back in the days when negatives and slides were the only options! Going digital though has allowed me to explore a more creative side to my hobby – discovering a macro lens and the amazing small things under our noses!
I am based in Preston in Lancashire which is where the vast majority of my photography takes place – despite having only a small garden there are often plenty of subjects to find if you look hard enough. I love insects in particular.
Locating small subjects is challenging enough, the other challenge is finding time – this is often at a premium with work and family life, but when I get the chance and a willing subject, “camera mode” takes over!
I do admit that when doing macro photography, I have a tendency to use the restricted depth of field to make the image more creative than record, allowing the viewer to focus on a specific part of the image – usually eyes. What I do find fascinating is how much more there is to see when examining this tiny world – the mundane can become amazing! One day, I would like to own Canon’s MP-E 65 lens to get even closer!
I have a modest website (www.pauliddon.co.uk) and I help to run a forum for Canon users (www.canon-fodder-forums.com)
