Day 7 – Inspiring Quotes

What better way to finish off a whole week of inspiration than to have some inspirational quotes. Here we go then….

  • No place is boring, if you’ve had a good night’s sleep and have a pocket full of unexposed film.  Robert Adams
  • It’s weird that photographers spend years or even a whole lifetime, trying to capture moments that added together, don’t even amount to a couple of hours.  James Lalropui Keivom
  • Often while traveling with a camera we arrive just as the sun slips over the horizon of a moment, too late to expose film, only time enough to expose our hearts. Minor White
  • A photograph is usually looked at – seldom looked into. Ansel Adams
  • Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships. Ansel Adams
  • There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs. Ansel Adams
  • Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn’t a very interesting photograph.  If it were, they would have more to say. Author Unknown
  • You don’t take a photograph, you make it.  Ansel Adams
  • Buying a Nikon doesn’t make you a photographer.  It makes you a Nikon owner. Author Unknown
  • It pleases me to take amateur photographs of my garden, and it pleases my garden to make my photographs look professional.  Robert Brault
  • The photograph itself doesn’t interest me.  I want only to capture a minute part of reality. Henri Cartier Bresson
  • If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn’t need to lug around a camera. Lewis Hine
  • One photo out of focus is a mistake, ten photo out of focus are an experimentation, one hundred photo out of focus are a style. Author Unknown
  • A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know. Diane Arbus
  • Best wide-angle lens? Two steps backward. Look for the ‘ah-ha’. Ernst Haas
  • The camera doesn’t make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE. Ernst Haas
  • The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking. Brooks Anderson
  • It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary. David Bailey
  • Most things in life are moments of pleasure and a lifetime of embarrassment; photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure. Tony Benn
  • Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. Aaron Siskind
  • Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures. Don McCullin
