Toy Town – Images by Michael Shilling
About the Shoot
This isn’t my usual style, in fact I would consider myself first and foremost a portrait photographer. I did want to add to my personal stock library some images that I could use in designs for future projects.
All of these images were taken at Malmsbury Primary School in Merton and are used on a daily basis by the teachers to help some the nursery children with their language difficulties.
I’m not quite sure where the toys came from but they did seem quite unusual. I wanted to somehow bring a little bit of personality out of the characters at shoot them as if they were any normal portrait subjects.
Everything was shot in a 5D MkII with a Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 L lens. The images were given very basic Photoshop processing using the Guy Gowan Retouch Action.
