Day 40 – Hair photo-shoot lighting set-up

Submitted by on February 9, 2010 – 8:29 am2 Comments

It’s been a busy few days shooting for hairdressers. On Sunday we visited Klass salon in Worcester Park. The brief was for a window display. Still unsure about what image they will use and as yet. All the images are very much in an unedited state. I did quite like this one (more for the lighting).

Here’s how we set up the lights.

We set up a strobe with just the lamp on pointed upwards to give a slight graduated look to the background.

The strobe on the left was set up at eye level to the model.

We had a strobe with a honeycomb grid on a boom to light the hair.

Still lots of work to do in photoshop but we’ll post the finished result.

This diagram was created by a very handy iPhone app called Strobox

i don’t think this photo looks good at all. …line of light going in her mouth…background looks way over exposed with very fast fall off…eye shadows are harsh…hot spot on the cheek
