September 5, 2010 – 10:00 am | No Comment

Once again this the Sunday showcase is looking at submissions to The 2010 Project
All of these images have been submitted in the Things category.
Things or Still life photography is the depiction of inanimate subject matter, most typically a small grouping of objects. Still life photography, more so than other types of photography, such as landscape or portraiture, gives the photographer more leeway in the arrangement of design elements within a composition.

Guy Gowan action extension – preserve sky

Submitted by Michael Shilling on July 20, 2010 – 10:00 amOne Comment

The HDR capabilities of Guy Gowan’s retouch action on their own are fantastic (no I’m not on commission) but if you’ve attended any of his seminars you might have seen him preserve the detail in the clouds and sky whilst still boosting the shadow areas.

This free Photoshop action does exactly that. It’s recommended that you use The S and H extension which can be downloaded at Guy Gowan retouch action extension

For this action to work you will need the Guy Gowan Retouch action which is available to members at www.guygowan.com.

You might want to customise the mask that is created. To do this hold down alt and click on the mask. Then paint with a black or white brash into the desired areas.

We’ve put a little video together showing you the action in action….. enjoy….
