LensBaby Composer aperture tests
This weeks Showcase Sunday was all based around one of my new toys the LensBaby Composer. Although it’s very popular with our cousins from across the pond we Brits haven’t really fully embraced the wonderful world of LensBaby.
If you’ve be following this blog for a while, and certainly if you’re a member, then you’ll know about our LensBaby Photoshop Actions. You can downlaod the whole set from our members area but I kinda like the real thing.
Aa a little side note, if you’re a Canon user (like me). Unlike Nikon most Canon bodies (or at least the 5DMkII) won’t let you know if you have an area in focus if you have your auto focus off (or unavailable as is the case with the LensBaby).
Before you spend nearly £200 on the LensBaby Composer you might want to have a look at the first in our series of little tests.

Each LensBaby Composer comes with at set of aperture disks with f-stops ranging from f2.8 to f22.

In our little test we set up our lovely still life scene and had no tilt on the lens so that the centre of the image would be the ‘sweet spot’ of focus.
All of these images were shot on a Canon 5D MkII which has a full frame sensor.
Everything was shot on shutter priority with auto WB and 100 ISO.
The distance between the lens and the scene was about 75cm
Here’s the resulting images….
For you macro lovers next week Thursday we’ll be doing some tests with the LensBaby Macro Lens Kit.
