We’re continuing our series on iPad apps for photographers and this week I wanted to find an application which would be suitable for viewing pictures to clients. There are plenty of impressive looking portfolio apps but want I really need is something that can organise the images a little better. Ideally I’d like to be able to bookmark and pick out favorites, add captions and organise the photos into a different order if needed.

One app that I have been working with is Photo Manager Pro from Linkus. It has a number of features which tick plenty of the boxes I’m looking for. There is a Photo Transfer option but personally I’ve been using PhotoSync iPad app to import my images and Photo Manager Pro to view and organise them.

I’ve listed all of the key features below but the ones that I’ve found most useful

• The Slideshow mode (which can be set to music from iTunes)
• The ability to easily compare 2~6 photos on screen at once
• Captions – Good for making editing notes

There are a couple of good features which earn’t quite there yet as well

• Favorites - Good feature to have but slightly limited as you cannot view favourites from individual folders – in other words, a new favorites folder is created from all bookmarked images from all folders which is a bit frustrating as you have to un-favorite images for each viewing.
• Open In – Handy to have as this isn’t editing software and you might want to make some changes. However it doesn’t offer support to a lot of editing software like PS Express so you’ll have to save the image to your Photos folder and open it that way. You do have the option to open in the likes of Evernote and DropBox though.
