Nicknamed The Facebook browser and still in testing, RockMelt is the smart tip for what’s going to be huge in 2011.
To keep an eye on the updates head over to the RockMelt Tumblr Blog or follow on Twitter @rockmelt
My thoughts so far… (using a mac)
I’ve been using RockMelt for about a week now mostly on a mac although my wife is also giving it a go on her PC laptop. Here’s just a few of my thoughts.
- Sometimes it’s easy to forget that it looks to some that you’re on Facebook all day (even though you can ‘Go Offline’)
- The import of bookmarks is seamless although whilst passwords are remembered you’ll have to remember your username at least once!
- Growl notifications that pop up ever now and then do so quite randomly.
- If I copy and paste a link like this – 5 More of the best Photography Websites it appears (in WordPress) like this http://photocreative365.com/5-more-of-the-best-photography-websites/
- Far too easy to pull tabs out of a window (getting a bit annoying to tell the truth).
- See a download in the browser is a really nice touch.
- Really nice to be able to search Google (and get results) with leaving a page
- I love The Edge – great for adding your favorite news site (or PhotoCreative365)
- The option to add a favorite Facebook friend to The Edge is a handy feature…. for stalkers
- Yes there are a few bugs but this is still a baby…. but in my opinion it’ll grow up pretty fast!
Could be as big as Google Wave….
