There are hundreds of different hosting options and many different deals so it can be confusing when first setting up your site.

To run WordPress your host just needs a couple of things:

• PHP version 4.3 or greater
• MySQL version 4.1.2 or greater

WordPress themselves recommend Bluehost, DreamHost, MediaTemple and Laughing Squid.

Personally I use Just Host and have only encountered minor irritations which have been sorted out quickly despite my refusal to pay for premium support.
